The Microsoft Corp. has announced that it has increased its HealthVault Be Well Fund award pool from $3 million to $4.5 million after receiving nearly 200 proposals from leading academic and research health organizations. Recipients will be announced at the second annual Microsoft HealthVault Solutions Conference on July 9-10 in Bellevue, Wash.

NextGen Healthcare Systems, Inc. of Horsham, Pa., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. and a provider of ambulatory healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, has announced that QSI has entered into an agreement to acquire St. Louis-based Healthcare Strategic Initiatives, a provider of healthcare revenue management services. In addition, the company has announced that Health Management Associates, Inc. will use revenue cycle management services from NextGen’s Practice Solutions Division to complement EMR and PM systems implemented in 2007.
