Vendor Notebook: SearchAmerica launches new addition to patient advisor suite

SearchAmerica, a Minneapolis-based part of Experian and provider of financial clearing services for healthcare, has unveiled Patient Open Balance Display, a new addition to its Payment Advisor Suite and Address Checker products.

Intuit, a Mountain View, Calif.-based developer of business and financial management solutions, has signed an agreement to acquire Medfusion, a Cary, N.C.-based provider of patient-to-provider communications solutions, for approximately $91 million.

Pyramid Healthcare Solutions, a Florida-based provider of revenue cycle management solutions, has been acquired by the Avantha Group of India for roughly $20 million.

The QuadraMed Corporation of Reston, Va., has announced that its AcuityPlus nurse-staffing management solution has helped the Northeast Georgia Health System in Gainesville, Ga., improve nursing productivity goals by about 60 percent through reduced overtime, extra shift costs and contract nursing needs.

Zynx Health, a Los Angeles-based provider of clinical decision support solutions, has announced that St. Vincent Health in central Indiana has deployed ZynxOrder across its 19-facility healthcare system.

Novation, an Irving, Texas-based supply contracting company, has awarded an agreement to Covidien, based in Mansfield, Mass., to offer NovaPlus disposable sharps containers to members of VHA, the University HealthSystem Consortium and Provista.

Benefitfocus, based in Charleston, S.C., has announced a multi-year partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana to deploy the Benefitfocus Platform.

MedAssets, Inc., based in Atlanta, has been selected by the Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, S.C., to assist in the transformation of its revenue cycle management operations.

Wolters Kluwer Health, based in Philadelphia, has announced that CHRISTUS Health, an international Faith-based not-for-profit health system headquartered in Dallas, will deploy ProVation Order Sets, powered by UpToDate Decision Support, as its electronic order set solution. In addition, the Southlake Clinic in Renton, Wash., has selected ProVation MD software for gastroenterology procedure documentation and coding and the ProVation EHR electronic health record and patient charting solution.

The Eclipsys Corporation of Atlanta has announced that the Cottage Health System of Santa Barbara, Calif., will use a combination of the company’s ambulatory and health information exchange solutions, including the PeakPractice electronic medical record and practice management solution, to support its eHealth Partnership initiative.

RACmonitor, LLC, based in Tampa, Fla., has launched a new Web site focused on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Medicaid Integrity Contractors (MICs). The site can be found at www.micmonitor.com.
Siemens Healthcare, of Malvern, Pa., has announced that Faith Regional Health Services, based in Norfolk, Neb., will begin migrating to the company’s Soarian healthcare information system. The company has also announced that Denver Health and Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H., has continued to expand on their Soarian platforms.

Versus Technology of Traverse City, Mich., has announced that Humber River Regional Hospital has selected the Versus Advantages real-time location system (RTLS) platform for emergency department patient flow management at its hospitals in Weston and Downsview, Ontario, Canada.

Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions of Chicago has announced that Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., has selected the Allscripts Care Management discharge planning solution. Also, Community Medical & Dental Care of Monsey, N.Y., has selected the Allscripts Health Center Solution for their 30 multi-specialty physicians.

IntraLinks, a New York-based provider of critical information exchange solutions, has announced a partnership with SAFE-BioPharma, the non-profit association that created and manages the SAFE-BioPharma digital identity and signature standard for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, to offer that service to IntraLinks users.
Medicity, a Salt Lake City-based provider of health information exchange solutions, has announced that its new iNexx platform will be available this August and will be offered free of charge to physicians.

Medical Management Professionals, a Kennesaw, Ga.-based provider of billing and practice management services to emergency medicine practices, has been awarded a billing contract with Emergency Medical Associates of Mobile, Ala.

Apollo Health Street of Conshohocken, Pa., has announced a new agreement with the Mississippi County Hospital System through which it will provide self-pay accounts receivable management services for SMC Regional Medical Center in Osceola, Ark., and Great River Medical Center in Blytheville, Ark.
