IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. of North Hollywood, Calif., which owns or provides management services to hospitalist practices operating in more than 300 facilities across the United States, has filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in connection with a proposed initial public offering of its common stock.

Selectica, a San Jose, Calif.-based provider of enterprise contract lifecycle management solutions, and Skytide, a San Mateo, Calif.-based provider of next-generation analytical solutions, have announced a go-to-market partnership agreement, under which the two companies will work together to launch a new series of XML-based contract analytics.

The VeriChip Corp. of Delray Beach, Fla., a provider of RFID systems, has launched its "Patient First" program, which allows patients to receive the VeriMed microchip with no up-front cost with a subscription to the VeriMed Patient Registry at a fee of $9.95 per month. The company will launch the program in the vicinity of its protocol-adopted hospitals in south Florida, northern New Jersey, Boston, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Atlanta.

Diversinet, a Toronto-based provider of wireless data application and security infrastructure products and services, has closed $5 million in new funding through a private placement with the Hospital Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, d/b/a Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania. In addition, the company has signed a three-year license and revenue share agreement with AHG Health Group, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hospital Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, to cross-license certain software and share revenues from the secure mobile access to personal health information.

Ottawa-based Cognos, Inc., a provider of business intelligence and performance management solutions, has announced the execution of a definitive agreement to acquire Applix, Inc., a Westborough, Mass.-based provider of analytics solutions for approximately $339 million.

HealthEdge, of Burlington, Mass., has announced a partnership with FlexTech, Inc., a managed care technology services provider, to implement HealthRules, a next-generation claims administration platform designer for payers.

API Software, Inc. of Hartford, Wis. has announced that Rice Memorial Hospital in Wilmar, Minn. has selected its time and attendance, staffing and scheduling and payroll/HR software applications.

Jack Henry & Associates, Inc., a Monett, Mo.-based provider of integrated technology solutions and data processing services for financial institutions, has established a strategic alliance with HealthEquity, Inc., an administrator of health savings accounts. The alliance enables Jack Henry to offer its bank and credit union clients a turnkey administration solution for HSAs.

GE Healthcare Financial Services has provided a $320 million senior secured credit facility to Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers of New York. The financing, which consists of $50 million revolving credit facility and $270 million real estate based term loan, will support the hospital's exit from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Creekridge Capital, LLC, a Minneapolis-based vendor leasing company focused on healthcare and technology, has signed a co-branded Vendor Program Agreement with Intouch Health, enabling the provider of remote presence technology to offer co-branded leasing programs to healthcare providers.

IBM has announced that Excellus BlueCross BlueShield of upstate New York will use the company's new Risk Identification Analysis Service, based on the company's Fraud and Abuse Management System (FAMS) technology, to help combat healthcare insurance claim fraud, waste and abuse.

HRAdvance, a Dallas-based provider of dependent eligibility verification services, has been selected at the dependent eligibility audit provider for VHA Georgia, Inc. hospitals.

Reporters Transcription Center of Binghamton, N.Y. has been awarded a service contract with the state of Maine to provide transcription services for the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Disability Determination Services.

St. Paul, Minn.-based RxHub has announced an agreement with Aetna, of Hartford, Conn., that provides authorized physicians with access to prescription eligibility, formulary and medication history information for consenting Aetna members at the point of care through the RxHub network.

CollaborateMD (formerly ClaimGear), an Orlando, Fla.-based provider of Internet-based ASP practice management and medical billing software, has announced that it is extending and expanding its competitive upgrade program. The upgrade program is now available to existing users of Medisoft, Lytec, Misys, Medical Manager and Companion Technologies (HealthPoint).
