Vermont may institute its own individual mandate for health insurance if enough consumers drop their coverage.
Lawmakers in the state are considering the measure, according to an AP story cited by several sources, including WCAX3.

Because the new federal tax bill removes the Affordable Care Act requirement for all consumers to have health insurance Vermont's Senate Health Care Committee will reportedly take testimony on the issue in January.
Vermont Public Radio reported some lawmakers fear the drop in coverage could lead to an increase in private health insurance premiums.

And according to News10, Vermont lawmakers are also considering a shift to universal healthcare should enough residents drop their coverage.
