Virginia hospital completes emergency department expansion

By Richard Pizzi

Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Va., recently opened an expanded emergency department, the last step in a $60 million project that featured renovations to 95 percent of the facility.

The Richmond, Va.-based KLMK Group, LLC, served as the owner's representative, providing full project management services for the three-year, two-phase emergency department expansion.

The 16,300 square feet of new and renovated construction space includes 20 new emergency department beds, two triage rooms, a digital imaging system, two trauma suites and a renovated nurses' station, waiting area, financial counseling and security office.

The expansion created 33 private patient rooms within the emergency department. The expansion has doubled the size of Fauquier Hospital's emergency department and is expected to serve the hospital for the next five to 10 years.

Fauquier Health, a nonprofit community health system, operates an 86-bed hospital and a 115-bed long-term care and rehabilitation facility.
