California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a sweeping drug price bill that will force drugmakers to publicly justify big price hikes.

The bill, if signed by the California governor, would require drug companies to give notice to state agencies and health insurers if they plan to raise drug prices by 16 percent or more.

KFF analysis shows prices would jump under GOP proposals with fewer services for the state's rural residents.

The powerful California Nurses Association has put Ebola on the bargaining table in its negotiations for a new contract with Kaiser Permanente. The health system hasn't responded to all of the CNA's demands.
