Concentra acquires medical care centers in New Jersey

By Stephanie Bouchard

Concentra, a subsidiary of Humana, Inc., has acquired the assets of New Jersey-based Immediate Medical Care Center, P.A. (IMCC), a provider of urgent care and occupational health services to the private patient and employer community.

Concentra's acquisition of IMCC, which has centers in Chester and Parsippany, was effective at the start of the year and brings its total locations to 13 in New Jersey. The two centers will operate under the Concentra name. Most of IMCC's medical staff, providers and non-medical personnel have been retained.

"This is an excellent opportunity to expand our service and medical expertise to local employers in the northern New Jersey area," said Keith Newton, Concentra's president and chief operating officer in a press release about the acquisition. "IMCC has a proven record of service to the community, providing comprehensive medical treatment for its varied patient population - a philosophy that parallels that of Concentra and ultimately results in tremendous benefits for our patients and clients."

IMCC has been a provider of urgent care and occupational health services. Under the acquisition, it will expand to offer physical therapy, preventive care and wellness and health education services.
