Roy K. Malkin, president and chief executive officer of the Minneapolis-based Minntech Corporation, was injured in a plane crash Saturday evening.
A press release from Cantel Medical, Minntech’s parent company, said Malkin sustained serious injuries in a crash of his private single-engine plane and that his condition has been classified as critical but stable.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported that Malkin, 65, was piloting the plane when it crashed at the end of a runway after failing to gain altitude at Crystal Airport just outside Minneapolis. His unnamed passenger also sustained serious injuries. The newspaper reported that Malkin underwent surgery on Sunday.
While Malkin recovers, division heads at Minntech will report to Andrew Krakauer, president and CEO of Cantel Medical. Paul Helms, executive vice president of Minntech, will serve as "site leader," assisting with oversight of Minntech's day-to-day activities.
