The 2012 HomeCare Elite, a list of the top performing home health agencies in the United States, was announced Tuesday.
Now in its seventh year, OCS HomeCare and DecisionHealth’s HomeCare Elite list ranks home health agencies based on publicly available data from Home Health Compare and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ cost reports.
OCS, a business division of the National Research Corporation, analyzed the agencies based on quality of care, quality improvement, patient experience, process measure implementation and financial performance.
This year, 10,177 Medicare-certified agencies had enough data to be considered for the 2012 list, an increase of 453 from last year. Of the 2,546 home health agencies identified as being in the top 25 percent, 1,375 are repeat agencies from last year, 553 are first-time winners and 87 were in last year’s top 500. Twenty-three of this year’s top 100 were in last year’s top 100, and 245 agencies have been in the HomeCare Elite list and 13 have been in the top 500 all seven years.
